Qualifications: 2-Year degree or equivalent work-related experience, 4-5 years experience in quartz glass forming or related media, manual dexterity and attention to detail.   Essential Duties: Prepare quartz tube for forming on the auto lathe.  Shape, resize, bend and join sections of quartz glass tubes and rods to the desired specifications. Cut lengths of tubing to specified sizes using a glass cutter or diamond saw. Vacuum furnace operation. Filling of blanks within a glove box, working with oxygen torch, working with liquid nitrogen. General knowledge to work with quartz glass and various chemicals utilized in quartz product production. Knowledge in operating an optical comparator, glove box, vacuum equipment and lab equipment associated with quartz glass product production. Forming of product from quartz glass tubes and rods. Understanding written instructions. Inspection of product for defects and accuracy. Operation and control of fabrication. Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC)  processes.
